Tesla opened the this week the possibility to configure your own Tesla Model X in Norway. Extra options and features to the base model and prices can now be studied and configured by everybody in Norway.

Elon Musk step up the Quality Control

Darth BL posted a link to the "Tesla Motors Club Forum" from which most of the X build quality issues were initially posted. There he asked for an explanation on what Tesla tend to do about the situation.

Musk responded by stating that Tesla Motors has actually added a stronger second layer of quality control to the Model X build to assure that the electric SUVs are less problematic. This is good news. Now the problems will be reduced, and cars coming from the factory now will have less problems.

Ford vs Tesla Model X technology

It was recently revealed that Ford had bought a Tesla Model X "Founders Series" from a Coin Dealer. They paid over $200 000 for the car, which is $50 000 more than the Coin Dealer paid for it.

Ford bought the car to study it, test it and take it apparat. Ford is falling behind their competitors, and will therefore invest several billions of dollars in the coming years to make 13 electric and hybrid cars within 2020 to catch up in the marked. So naturally, they start with studying the Tesla Model X :)

Tesla Model X - Europe next

Several European Model X reservation holders are now reporting having received confirmation that their vehicles entered the production phase this week.

Even if their cars are entering production this week, they are told not to expect delivery for another 2 to 3 months. While Tesla vehicles rarely keep a 'production' status more than a few days or weeks, the automaker ships vehicles in batches to Europe and the whole process can take months.

Elon Musk in Norway

Elon is in Norway in a conference regarding future transportation solutions. He appoints Norway as a "guiding star for renewable energy".

Norway is lucky, he says. Norway is self-sufficient with electricity from waterworks. Norway also has a huge potential regards to wind power. Windmills offshore and onshore and wave energy.

Elon Musk met top government officials during his stay. Being well known in Norway, Elon Musk is a popular person and hence get a lot of publicity when visiting Norway.

Tesla Model X - Quality Issues

Recently posts around the web about Tesla Model X talk about the quality and people experiencing problems with the Falcon Wing doors, Center screen, rust, windows that get stuck, sensors on the wing doors which do not register obstacles in the roof so the doors get damage and bad sealing. And other things. Model X is getting a rough start. People do not want to start their new experience with a high tech car with service visits. As they did with the Model S, we believe and hope Tesla will improve as the complaints come in, which they also have said they will do :)

TMX - Double Vision through Windshield

The light ghosting effect was first reported on the Tesla Motors Club forum in January on a forum post titled “Double vision at night through windshield?” The Model X owner was initially concerned his 6' 5" (195 cm) height and the curve of the massive windshield was to blame for what was described as a “double vision” effect, despite having “great vision.”

second owner also confirmed a similar issue with delivery of their Model X on April 1st in the same forum thread. A third owner claimed to be experiencing the same issue the same day, and a fourth reported the same experience on April 3rd

Answer from Tesla on Double vision problem:

Reflections (ghosting) occurs in all laminated glass to varying degrees. This is most frequently seen at night and can affect some drivers more than others. We have received only a small number of questions from Model X customers about the windshield and have taken action to address these unique cases.

Design changes and upgrade

Tesla Model S will now get a new front while Model X's lowest battery 70D has been upgraded with a bigger battery - 75D. Actually, the 70D never existed as Tesla hasn't built the base model yet, opting to built bigger revenue high-end models. The nomenclature change reflects an upgrade from 70 kWh to 75 kWh for its lithium ion battery pack. Range, as a result, climbs from an estimated 220 miles to 237 miles on a single charge. Tesla says that the 75D will hit 60 mph (approx 100 km/h) from a complete stop in 6.0 seconds before topping out at 130 mph (200 km/h).

You can now configure the Model X without having to order it first. Currently only possible in US, not in Norway yet.

2700 Tesla Model X recalled

Tesla announced this afternoon that it's voluntarily recalling the small number of Model X that were produced before March 26th, 2,700 in total, over concerns that the third-row seats could fold forward in a crash. The company says the seat passed 15 previous tests, but failed during a 16th, slightly different test prior to the start of European deliveries. All vehicles affected are labeled for US sale; most (but not all) are already in customers' hands. No injuries or issues in production vehicles have been attributed to the problem, which Tesla calls a manufacturing defect, not a design defect.

TMX - Falcon Wing Door Height

Finding documentation on the Falcon Wing Door (FWD) and its measurements is not easy. Tesla do not have these data on their webpages. Thanks to eager TMX owners that measure everyhing for us, we have the data here:

Depending on the air suspension being at the lowest or highest, the height of the TMX with FWD fully opened varies from 198 cm to 228 cm. Either way, be sure that your TMX falcon wing doors see the roof of your carport/garage :)

The Road Chief (like the old designed Airstream), is 8 meters long, weighs 1050 kg, and was designed with aerodynamics in mind. With that load hitched to it, the Model X was capable of a reported 70 percent of its EPA-rated range (EPA range: 257 miles=413 km, 70%EPA range: 289 km with the 1050 kg trailer), when driven at a consistent 80-90 km/h. It also accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds while pulling the trailer.

Her er Teslas rapport på Q1 tallene for 2016. Model S går bra, mens Model X opplever leveringsproblemer på deler i den nye modellen, som igjen forsinker sluttresultatet. De har dog gått fra 208 leverte i 2015 til 750 biler i uka i starten av 2016. "For avansert for første modell" og "klarer ikke lage alle delene selv". Høres kanskje ikke bra ut for Tesla, men for oss kommende X-eiere så gleder vi oss desto mer. First Tesla Model X arrive in China

In China, Tesla began taking Tesla Model X reservations early February and promised to deliver the month after. Here the first Tesla Model X arrive in China, Bejing Airport. What is particularly appealing about the TMX for the Chinese, is the Model X's bioweapon Defense climate control :) Because many of the major cities in China suffer from strong smog pollution, the TMX with its filters has quite an advantage. Tesla's new car, the Tesla 3, is seen as being Tesla's lifesaver, income wise. Tesla is opening a separate factory in China to supply China/Asia with Tesla 3.
