Build 2.24.78 of Release 7.1 has changed the behavior of both the Falcon Wing doors and the rear liftgate on the Model X. Now when the car's sensors detect that it is an area of low clearance the doors will open to "a new height that is low enough to avoid obstacles overhead yet high enough to allow easy access to the cabin." The driver can override the cautious behavior on a per-use and per-location basis, permitting the doors to open until the sensors (hopefully) detect an obstacle and stop.
