First Tesla Model X's to Norway June/July

CORRECTION - Typical newspaper salespitch. Cars coming this week are Event-cars. Cars to be used for test drive. First cars for delivery is not until June/July. These will be Signature cars. Then in August/September, the cars like my 90D will arrive - hopefully :) Has been a long wait. Three years. I sold my BMW X5 today. Sad to see it go, it has been a superb car. I hope the joy of driving the Tesla is as big as driving the X5 :)

Windshield expensive to replace

Having parts on your car replaced can be expensive. For Model X that is no exemption. Windshield is said to cost approx $2300 to replace, being much more expensive than Porsche, BMW and other premium cars. So drive carefully :)

In 2025 it's full stop selling cars on gasoline in Norway (??)

In the Aftenposten newspaper today, it said that the political parties FrP, Høyre, KrF and Venstre have agreed on stopping all sales of cars running on gasoline, within 2025. 9 years from now. H and FrP say this is not correct, but Ventre say: "All true". Newspaper stunt? Non the less, news about Norway moving away from the standard cars are frequent. How this news will impact the worth of these cars the coming years will be interesting to see. Will they become "worthless" or keep their value because cars on gasoline will then be "rare" or collectors items :) Only time will show :) This will be the start in Norway, for the cars running on alternative power. Welcome to the "Age of the battery" :)

Yepp - My Bad !!!

Elon Musk on Tuesday owned the widely-reported problems with the Model X. And later explained why the Model X and Model S will lead the Model 3 in technology. Speaking at the Tesla Motors 2016 Annual Shareholder Meeting held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif. on Tuesday, Musk said he accepts blame for Model X snafus.

Should have waited: Musk said some of the coolest tech was rushed: “In retrospect the right thing to do with the Model X would have been to take a lot of the really awesome cool things and table them for a future version,” Musk said. “So, if I could wind back the clock, I would say, ‘look we’ve got these great ideas. Things that I want to implement and other people want to implement.’ But the smart move would actually have been to table those for version 2 and version 3 of Model X instead of piling them all into version 1.”

Tesla Model X v7.1 update

A new over-the-air software update v7.1 (2.20.45) has gone out to Tesla Model X owners that allows for better control of the vehicle's electronically actuated seats and famed falcon wing doors. Most notable in the update, a minor change to the company's existing version 7.1, introduces a feature that provides individual control of the vehicle's second-row seating directly from the center touchscreen.

Model X owner's are also presented with a feature that will close the falcon wing doors, self-presenting front doors, and even the rear trunk hatch all in a single swoop through a press of the key. Prior to this feature, closing the sophisticated doors on the Model X required a combination of actions that included touching the door control via the center touchscreen plus the physical press of either the key fob which would only close the front doors, or the B-pillar mounted falcon wing door switches assuming one hand't already closed it via the touchscreen (Source: www.teslarati.com).

Elon Musk stated 1.May that "Next month - with a lot of other good stuff". Now, what does that mean? What are they planing to surprise us with now? Feel like an Apple release :) Hopefully we will know next week!!

Tesla Model X vs. Bentley Bentayga 2017

This video is very interesting. First (3.30 min into the video) we will see Model X compete with a "Superfast" car while it is towing another car :) Fantastic!!! Then the Model X will be tested and discussed, comparing it with the new Bentley Bentayga 2017. Nice to watch !!!

Summon Update

Tesla this week updated its Summon self-parking feature to require more human interaction. The move comes after a Utah man's Tesla crashed into a truck while in Summon mode. The man blamed Tesla, but the electric car maker said the driver ignored several prompts that could have prevented the collision. Nontheless, Tesla's app now requires that Summon users tell the car which direction to move to ensure it doesn't hit any obstacles (Source: PCMAG.COM)

Bill Gates takes a Tesla X

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates conducted an interview with renown sci-fi writer, and author to the blockbuster novel ‘Seveneves’, Neal Stephenson while cruising through Seattle in a gorgeous Deep Blue Metallic Tesla Model X. Model X launch in China

Tesla Model X has been launched on the Chinese car market, with deliveries set to start later this month (May). There are three variants available: the Model X 90D, the Model X P90D, and the China-only Model X P90D Signature Red edition.The 90D retails for $147 000, the P90D for $176 000 and the Signature Red does a whopping $225 000.47 million yuan. For comparison, in the U.S. the 95D costs $95,500 and the P90D $115,500.

Chinese are very eager to pay more to get their hands on a Tesla, especially on the new Model X, which is after all an SUV, the most popular body style in China.(Source: Forbes.com)

Tesla with better outcome in crashes

The accident occurred Wednesday this week, as an eighteen year old girl and four friends from Pullach in Germany took her dads Tesla Model S for a drive

The Tesla S slid off the road and crashed with an edge. After that, it flew 25 meters before it crash-landed on the front, first in a field. Amazingly all five in the car came out by themselves, without life-threatening injuries.

Pictures of the accident show that the passenger section of the car is almost unscathed, while the front is completely destroyed, folded like an accordion.

This is said to be the benefit with electric cars. They don't have an engine that could enter through the front and hit the driver and passenger.

Sleeping with the "Animals"

CEO Elon Musk addressed the concerns of the Model X quality control by noting that he was now working at a desk at the end of the Model X assembly line and was spending so much time there that he had a sleeping bag there – and that he used it quite frequently. Elon Musk take the complaints seriously, and has been personally involved to solve them.

Tesla Warranty - Corrosion coverage

Tesla in third place (tied with Volvo) when only looking at the Corrosion coverage. Looking at all coverages, Tesla is ranked as number 5. According to Dinside.no the paint and corrosion coverage for Tesla in Norway lasts the first 5 years or the first 100 000 km, which comes first. Remember that corrosion because of ex. rubble (broken stones) from other cars will not be covered by the warranty. This is normal in other car brands as well. Small stones make small hole in the paint, and then salty water gets in and under the paint.

Tesla Model X's Air filter

Tesla placed a Model X inside a bubble filled with "extreme levels of pollution" at 1,000 µg/m3 of PM2.5, which the Environmental Protection Agency describes as the kind of pollution that "pose the greatest health risks." For comparison, PM2.5 levels in Beijing can hit 300 µg/m3.

In less than two minutes, the HEPA filtration system was able to reduce the level of contamination from "extremely dangerous" to "undetectable." Like the the Falcon wing doors, the HEPA filter will be as important and highly valued in polluted cities like Beijing (Source:CNET.COM)
